Oregon Coast

Wednesday, July 11, 2007: This was a hectic day! I started with a quick walk on the beach outside (and below) my motel room. Since I had a long list of places to look at, I hurried on my way.

The first stop was Cape Foulweather, with a view of Yaqina Head. I then took a closer look at Devil's Punchbowl before driving to Yaquina Head.

From there I went on to Perpetua, Devil's Chasm (in the Siuslow National Forest) before arriving at Heceta Head. This is one of the classic photo locations on the Oregon Coast, and I made the 1 mile trek to the lighthouse and back.

I stopped at the Darlingtonia boardwalk, to see the carnivorous plants. After that, it was on to Oregon Dunes. I walked around a bit, but was not inclined to walk very much on the dunes. When walking on dunes I always feel like I'm taking several steps to move forward one.

I decided I had the time to drive out to Arago Light. I didn't stay long though as it was very windy there. The next stop was nearby Simpson Reef which featured both California and Steller's Sea Lions as well as Harbor Seals.

My next stop was Face Rock Beach.

A short stop at Cape Blanco was the last I felt I could afford.

I did make a short stop at Arch Rock (Boardman State Park), but otherwise I was just going. I arrived at the Requa Inn around 6:30, which turned out to be early enough to arrange to have dinner there. It was a good choice!
