Rest Day in Lima
Friday, June 24, 2011: I didn't really get enough sleep, but got up anyway. Rock Pigeons and West Peruvian Doves were on top of the airport terminal, which is visible from my hotel room.
I made an attempt to take a boat ride, but that didn't work out. It took longer than expected to get there and find the place. It was then too late for the morning trip. I was still tired, and decided to not try the afternoon trip. I did add a few trip birds, including Eared Dove, and Black Vulture (a couple of kettles were also visible later from my room) Belcher's Gull, and Neotropic Cormorant. When I got back to the hotel, I realized just how tired I was and went back to sleep. I didn't get up until after 4pm. Late in the day, a couple of Peregrine Falcons were hanging about the airport tower.
Most of us gathered for dinner around 7. By the time we were done, the whole group was assembled. Tomorrow, it's off to the Andes!
My bird total for the day was 7 species, including 2 lifers.
