[Spotted Owl Branchling]

Garden Canyon, Ft. Huachuca, Arizona, July 29, 2012

This young owl sitting in a sycamore is still fairly downy. However, it seems to have most of its adult flight feathers grown in. Some authorities put this owl in the genus Strix, but I think the New World part of the genus is best treated as Ciccaba.
