The peak above is Disappointment Peak, a false summit of Grand Teton. It lies almost 2000 feet above Amphitheater Lake, which is almost 3000 feet above the valley floor where I started. Although this is where I turn around, some climbers described how to find the way to the true summit. It's somewhat tricky and is easy to take the wrong path. If so, you end up on Disappointment Peak. The only direct way from Disappointment to Grand Teton's summit is to fly!
