Mt. St. Helens and Castle Lake

The lake to the right is Castle Lake, which was created when Castle Creek was blocked by debris from the eruption of Mt. St. Helens. A spillway was built to relieve pressure on the natural dam. This hopefully will prevent a catastrophic failure that could devastate downstream communities.
